Two women laughing together against a blue sky

Skip the small talk. Find the friends who get you.

Adult friendship rarely happens accidentally anymore. It finds us when the right people are pointed toward each other at the right moment.

The quality of our relationships largely determines how thriving our lives are. In this, many arguably overly focus on their romantic relationships while neglecting the value of friendships. People naturally change over time, and friends may fade. As an adult, finding people you genuinely click with and turning that into a real friendship has become more challenging than it needs to be.

I'm Thea. I grew up in a small town in the heart of Denmark. I have lived in the US, Berlin, Beijing, and Barcelona. I have had to rebuild my social life from scratch several times. I know what it takes in a full life with family, old friends, work, workouts, hobbies, and responsibilities.

Modern life has quietly eroded our social skills. Society has grown more individualistic, and social media often leaves people feeling more isolated than connected; COVID-19's isolation has left a lasting mark. Now, many people find it easier to have an honest conversation with AI than with another person. Together, these shifts are making it harder to build and keep real friendships.

We see it in the flakiness, the small talk that goes nowhere, the lack of reciprocal initiative and investment, and the meetups that have to be booked weeks in advance only to get canceled last minute.

We have to be careful to use technology wisely so that we do not become unwell from using it. We can live our entire lives working from home, ordering food home, chatting on social media, watch Netflix and date online. But that will not make most of us genuinely happy. This kind of convenience can lead to what Esther Perel calls modern day loneliness where we have loads of people around us but very few that we can call, meet up with spontaneously, truly trust and feel understood by.

To me, this makes no sense. It is a paradox that the number of people on earth is rising and still loneliness is rising too.

Last December, a friend I've known for fifteen years told me she was losing heart. She lives in another part of the country from me so we cannot hang out on the daily. After illness, hospital stays, and forced moves, she was facing starting over socially — again. I knew that feeling and I know so many others in a similar situation. I thought to myself, "This cannot be". I realized that I wanted to build something that made this genuinely easier.

Not another place to perform. Not another feed. But something that helped people actually find each other, connect and live their most thriving lives together.

That's KIND. One careful introduction at a time, based on what actually matters.

I hope it helps create something real in your life.

All the best from Thea

Friends laughing together in autumn light

KIND is for you if...

  • you moved to a new city and built a life, but not yet a community
  • you came out of a long relationship and realized how much of your social life was shared
  • your closest friends have slowly moved to other cities or simply changed into a different life direction than you
  • you changed jobs and lost the colleagues who felt like more than colleagues
  • you have people around you — but you want friendships that go deeper.

You have people around you and a busy life. But you're open to meet people who match the different sides of you. With whom you feel known, can relax and laugh. That's who KIND is for.

What KIND is

A community for real adult friendship — the app is the gateway.

Most apps were built for dating, networking, or scrolling/advertisement.  KIND is built for meeting people you'd actually want to share your life with.  No superficial bios. No swiping. Just thoughtful introductions, one at a time.

The problem

Meeting new friends as an adult has quietly become challenging in modern life

After your twenties, many of the easy ways of meeting people fall away. Most apps make it worse — louder, shallower, more performative. Where is the real human connection?

How KIND is different

One careful introduction, not a feed

We ask honest questions about how you actually live and what you want from a friendship. Matches are made automatically, based entirely on your answers. No swiping, no browsing, no inbox to manage

What you get

People you actually look forward to seeing

  • One match at a time

No inbox to manage and get overwhelmed by. Meet up quickly, and your next match follows. KIND moves at your pace

  • A suggested first meetup

A walk, a coffee, something easy based off what you both actually like so there's no awkward "what should we do?". Just meet up and enjoy

  • A private reflection space

A few questions after you met that only you ever see. Your answers help KIND learn who you are, so every next match is even more tailored to you

How it works

Meet your best friends easily based off what actually matters

  1. 01

    Tell us who you are

A questionnaire about 15 minutes. You choose answers, share your thoughts in your own words, and won't have to type much. We ask about your values, how you like to spend your time, what you're looking for in a friendship, and how you show up in friendship. Your answers shape everything that follows

  2. 02

    One introduction at a time

Once you're onboarded, KIND matches you with one person at a time based off your answers

  3. 03

    Meet in real life

A walk. A coffee. Something easy that you like. After your meet-up, KIND invites you to a short private reflection — a few questions about how it felt, what you noticed, what you'd want more of. The answers shape your next match; the more honestly you reflect, the better KIND gets at understanding what kind of friend matches you
